Phase 1: Gathering Information and Setting Direction

Step 1

Identifying Program Goals

How will you magnify the character and works of God? Will your church family be built up or torn apart because you did not agree on the goals of the building program? Identify ways to communicate the gospel of Christ with construction workers, neighbors, public officials, etc.

Step 2

Establishing the Building Committee

Will you help the pastor and others avoid burnout by delegating responsibilities? Will you enable your pastor to, like the Apostles in Acts 6:1-7, continue to give himself first to prayer and preaching God's Word? Uncover the common mistakes made by committees which make building committee meetings less effective.

Step 3

Determining Ministry and Stewardship Philosophy

How should you determine plans and goals for different aspects of your current and future church ministries? Learn how different philosophies of fundraising may influence the amounts of money given by your church family. Discover ways to help avoid arguing about how the building program will be funded. Understand some biblical considerations for fundraising.

Step 4

Surveying Members

Minimize the chances for misunderstandings, disagreements, gossip, and slander by getting input  from your congregation. Know what your sheep are thinking as you seek to shepherd them through a building program.
