Fundraising, because of previous decades of excessive debt loads and high-pressure tactics in churches, may have a negative image among some church leaders or members.

The church leadership and building committee will need to take a responsible, informed position about fundraising. Your church may have members who give only through budgeting (I Corinthians 16:2) and other members who give by faith promise (e.g., Hannah in I Samuel 1).
